A simple and authentic Italian pizza topped with fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and fragrant basil leaves. Crispy, cheesy, and full of flavor!
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for brushing crust)
- Optional toppings: pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, onions
Steps
- In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil; knead into a smooth dough. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out dough on a floured surface.
- Spread pizza sauce, sprinkle mozzarella, and add toppings.
- Bake 12–15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbling. Garnish with basil.
